After nearly 17 years since its debut, the cult horror-comedy film “Jennifer’s Body” is reportedly getting a sequel. Industry insiders suggest that production is slated to kick off in Vancouver by October 2026. While the studio has yet to make a formal announcement, it’s believed that Megan Fox will step back into her iconic role as Jennifer Check. Additionally, the creative forces behind the original film, writer Diablo Cody and director Karyn Kusama, are expected to reprise their roles for this new installment.
Though a specific release date hasn’t been set, projections indicate that if filming proceeds as scheduled, audiences might see the sequel in theaters by late 2027. Details about the plot remain closely guarded, but director Kusama has hinted that the sequel will retain the “fun and crazy” essence of the original. Meanwhile, Cody has voiced her eagerness to dive back into the horror-comedy realm, a genre in which the original film has found a loyal fan base over the years.
Amanda Seyfried, who portrayed Anita “Needy” Lesnicki in the first film, hasn’t been officially linked to the project yet. However, in past statements, she has alluded to the possibility of a sequel and expressed willingness to participate, especially if Megan Fox is on board.
The original “Jennifer’s Body,” released in 2009, tells the story of high school cheerleader Jennifer Check, who becomes possessed following a botched satanic ritual and subsequently starts preying on her peers.
